The Department of Food Nutrition and Safety, jointly established by the College of Food Science and the College of Public Health in 2001, offers a master’s degree program in Food Nutrition and Safety. It is a secondary degree program under the first-level master’s program of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Nanchang university. Later, in 2006, it was approved to grant doctoral degrees in second-level disciplines. It offers two undergraduate programs: Food Quality and Safety, and Food Nutrition and Health. Currently, there are 205 undergraduate students enrolled. Among them, the Food Quality and Safety major was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2004. Undergraduate enrollment began in 2005. In 2019 and 2021, it was respectively selected as a first-class undergraduate major construction point in Jiangxi Province and at the national level. In 2022, it was rated as a five-star undergraduate major in Jiangxi Province and has passed the National Engineering Education Accreditation. The Food Nutrition and Health major was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2025 and began undergraduate enrollment in the same year.
