The College of Food Science and Technology (CFST) at Nanchang University (NCU) traces its origins back to the establishment of the Department of Food Engineering at Jiangxi University of Technology and the Department of Food Science at Jiangxi University in 1985. In 1987, the College of Food Technology was established at Jiangxi University of Technology. In 1993, Jiangxi University and Jiangxi University of Technology were merged to form NCU, subsequently incorporating the College of Food Technology as part of NCU. In 1995, the College of Food Technology and the Department of Bioscience Engineering jointly established the College of Life Sciences and Food Engineering. In 2014, due to the needs of discipline development, CFST was established.
